Paraskevi FaraziParaskevi Farazi received her undergraduate degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT, 1995 - 1999) with a B.S. degree in Biology and Minor in Chemistry and Music. She then went on to complete her Ph.D. in Genetics at Harvard University (Biological and Biomedical Sciences/Division of Medical Sciences, 1999 - 2005). Her doctoral work in Ron DePinho’s lab at Harvard focused on modeling liver cancer in the mouse. More specifically, her work involved study of the role of telomere biology and the tumor suppressor p53 in hepatocellular carcinoma development as well as the generation of a mouse model of cholangiocarcinoma (with special emphasis on the role of p53, inflammation and the extracellular matrix microenvironment in cholangiocarcinoma development). She is currently a postdoctoral research associate in Douglas Lauffenburger’s lab in the department of Biological Engineering at MIT (October 2005 – present). |
