Research

My main interests lie in the modeling side of computational and systems biology. In particular, I would like to explore how to best make use of our current state of knowledge: assuming that our models are to some extent incomplete and/or incorrect, what kinds of predictions can we make and with what confidence? I am also interested in discovering at which level of the modeling process it is most advantageous to plead ignorance. It is common, for instance, to retain information about the uncertainty of model parameters, but less common to make similar statements about model topology. What can be gained by accounting for this additional uncertainty? My goal is to answer these questions using the information contained in the relationship between the data and models.
